North Valley Cell Phone and Personal Devices Policy
North Valley is focused on preparing our young adults for post-secondary success. This includes learning to use technology at the appropriate time and place and for specific purposes.

  • Students are allowed to use their cell phones or earbuds during lunch or specific teacher-directed times. Teachers may require that student devices be off and away in their classroom. Expectations will be communicated in the course syllabus and addressed during advisory and community meetings.

  • School-provided technology such as Chromebooks and assistive devices are permitted when appropriate for the learning task.
  • If a student does not respond to teacher expectations and redirections, the student may be referred to administration for problem-solving.
  • Smart technologies that can record others (such as Meta glasses) are not permitted in order to protect student and staff privacy.
  • Students who cannot use technology appropriately may lose the privilege of having their phone or other devices during instructional hours.

In case of an emergency, parents can contact their students through the North Valley Main Office. Additionally, students may use the main office phone for emergencies.

The district cell phone policy is available online.

Student Use of the Internet and Electronic Communications Annual Acceptable Use Agreement

Student use of technology is defined by District Board Policy JS.

Please read the cell phone and acceptable use policies in their entirety. If you would like a paper copy, one can be requested through the North Valley main office.
